Gentlemen’s St. Patrick’s Dinner

Save The Date: March 2023

Dear Friends: I am writing with a brief, albeit disappointing, update regarding the 2022 Gentleman’s St. Patrick’s Dinner.  Unfortunately, again this year, we will be unable to hold the event.  A “Pause on all Events” moratorium was put in place by Catholic Health in December. That restriction was only recently lifted by leadership. Despite our best efforts these last few weeks to put something together in short order, we could not pull it off. We have not been able to coordinate with our honoree, schedule, arrange and promote the festivities at a time and place close enough to St. Patrick’s Day to ensure its success.

While we are all disappointed that Covid and then Omicron has set us back one more time, we remain committed to an all-time successful St Pat’s Dinner in 2023. We are confident that Islanders owner, Jon Ledecky, will remain committed to us as he has been since we had to cancel our 2020 St. Pat’s Dinner at the time of Covid’s onset.

In the meantime, we are hard at work arranging for a spring event in May, and the Luau where we will celebrate our friend, Andy Healey, on June 23rd.

We are also in the midst of planning both Men’s and Women’s health events in conjunction with the Catholic Health promotional team.

  • Luau – A favorite for many, celebrated at a fun outdoor beach venue
  • Golf Classic – Held on a pristine golf course that offers a great day of golf and dinner

Proceeds 2022

Profits generated from Friends of Mercy events will be split between two areas for 2022.

*$100K to the upcoming Pain Management Center of Excellence slated to open in the 4th Qtr. of this year.  This location will be a 5,00 0 square foot, state of the art facility that will boast highly advanced equipment, multiple treatment options to give patients safe and effective pain management (without the need of opioids) and an interdisciplinary medical team to assist with the management of acute and chronic pain.

*$100K to the forthcoming Pre-Surgical Testing Center scheduled to open first quarter 2023. The Pre-Surgical Center will be located on the second floor of the impending Family Care Center.  Building the PST Center outside the hospital will allow patients to not have to enter the hospital as they complete their pre-surgical preparation. This new site promises to improve patient satisfaction while offering this much needed service to the community in a more convenient setting.
